Some practical tips to print smarties

Some practical tips to print smarties

Recently we helped one customer from Australia setup the FP-50 food printer. During the installation, the customer asked a question how to print smarties. That is a good question that not every one knows the answer.

Our edible food printers can definitely print smarties directly. We have a customer printing smarties/M&M’s since 2011. Also our technician just installed one food printer in UAE mainly printing on smarties/M&M’s. So you really don’t need to question about it.

Regarding the preparation, you also need AcroRIP printing software. AcroRIP is made in Korea. It’s powerful software which supports many Epson printers. The most advantage is that it can change the ink channels, increase the printing resolution, control the printing speed & ink output percentage and so on.

If you already have our food printer & edible inks, you still can not print smarties perfectly. You must follow our below suggestions, then practice more again.

Firstly, since the smarties is only 15mm diameter. Select the light color or light background photos. Don’t select the photo with dark background.

Secondly, in the color mode, it’s better to use YMCK WWWW or WWWW KCMY if printing on smarties.

Thirdly, the ink output percentage can reduce to 8 percentages. Check photo as below.

Last, if the inks can not dry in time after printing, you can add an Infrared lamp on the top of printing tray. The infrared lamp which you use, it should be adjustable. Otherwise, the Smarties/M&M’s will be melting. Check photo as below.
